Born in Barbados she grew up listening to reggae music and began singing while she was young. Due to the turmoil in her household as well as the disputes her parents had, she turned to music. She soon decided that she would like to become an artist. In her teens she got involved in a music group. Evan Rodgers auditioned her and was extremely impressed. She moved to New York so that she was able to pursue a full-time singing career. Rihanna released her debut album and became an overnight star. The songs that were aplenty of foot tapping became the hot favorites of young people, causing her to get into film as well. Young and talented, Rihanna is now regarded as a teen idol and a style icon. Rihanna is known for good and actively supports several organizations.
